১৬৮৩ শকাব্দে (১৭৬১ খ্রিস্টাব্দে) মহারাজ তিলক চাঁদের জ্যেষ্ঠা মহিষী মহারানী রুপ কুমারী দেবী শ্রীরূপেশ্বর শিব মন্দিরটি প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন। মন্দিরের প্রতিষ্ঠা লিপিটি নিম্নরুপ -

আয়তাকার মন্দিরটি ১৮ ফুট দৈর্ঘ্য এবং 15 ফুট প্রস্থ বিশিষ্ট। মন্দিরটির তিন দিকে কোন কারুকার্য নেই। সামনের দিকটি অতি উৎকৃষ্ট টেরাকোটা কারুকার্য খচিত। মূলগর্ভ গৃহের বাইরে ত্রিঘিলনযুক্ত বারান্দা নিয়ে সম্পূর্ণ মন্দিরটি নির্মিত হয়েছে। টেরাকোটা ফলক গুলি অনেকাংশেই নষ্ট হয়ে গেছে। এখনো দেখলে বোঝা যায় ফুল লতাপাতা বিভিন্ন নকশা সহ কৃষ্ণ লীলার বেশ কিছু ফলক ছিল।

In 1683 Shaka (1761 AD), Maharaja Tilak Chand's eldest wife, Maharani Roop Kumari Devi, founded the Sri Roopeshwar Shiva Temple. The foundation inscription of the temple is -
Śrīrāma pratima mahāguṇamaẏa strailōkyandrō nr̥pa
stasyāntē nr̥paśēkharasya mahiṣī jyēṣṭhā dharitrī sutā.
Sākārṣī tripubāntakasya bhabanaṁ kailāsa śailōpamaṁ
tatra rasāṣṭaṣaṛabanimē cāpēẏa mārtanḍakē.
The rectangular temple is 18 feet long and 15 feet wide. The temple has no carvings on three sides. The front side is decorated with exquisite terracotta carvings. The entire temple is built with a triangular verandah outside the main temple. The terracotta panels have been largely destroyed. Still, it can be seen that there were several panels of Krishna Leela with various designs of flowers, vines and leaves.
