The Atchala temple design involved placing one Char Chala on a square or rectangular base, followed by another Char Chala Although the temple essentially features an independent charchala design, the curvature of its cornice is repeated in successive tiers up to the roof (spanning a total of eight levels).

However, only a few vestiges of these temples can be found, indicating the scarcity and distinctiveness of this architectural form.

Eminent expert David McCutcheon categorised these temples as

Multiple corniced  Small shrine
Multiple corniced  Tall Dacca type
Multiple corniced   Spired
