That watercourse is called the Palashpai Canal. Along its banks lies the village of Palashpai in Daspur. A family with the surname Maity here also entered the silk trade. They became immensely wealthy from it. Taking advantage of the Permanent Settlement system, they also established a zamindari estate. In 1834, they built a large Vishnu temple for their family deity, Vishnu. A Shaligram stone known as Sridhar Jiu is worshipped there.<\/p>\n<p>The temple&#8217;s foundation plaque mentions a certain Gobindaram Maity. However, the family of hereditary caretakers says that Gobindaram had a childless brother named Paran Maity. The two brothers jointly founded the temple.<\/p>\n<p>Beside the temple stands a Rasmancha belonging to this family, richly decorated with numerous terracotta panels. It is built in the nine-towered style of the &#8220;Behari Rasunchura.&#8221; It has eight entrances. On either side of each entrance is a female musician figure. In addition, countless panels are arranged in two rows beneath the cornice. Motifs such as Shiva and Durga with their family, Mother Yashoda churning curd, and many others are all based on stories from the Puranas.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wpuf_customs\">\n<li
